What Christians Believe
The heart of what Christians believe is summed up well in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4: "...that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures." This tells us three core things.
First, when Jesus died on the cross he was dealing with human sin. That is, he was bearing our sins for us, so that we would not have to receive punishment for them. He died in our place and by this he offers forgiveness and a fresh start.
Second, Jesus really died that day, but rose from the dead three days later to show that he had dealt with human sinfulness altogether, and had triumphed over death once and for all. This means that those who trust in Jesus' death and resurrection for their sins will be resurrected with him and will live forever.
Third, it points to the scriptures, to the Bible, to know the meaning of Jesus' death and resurrection. The Bible is God's word to us and shows us how to live. You can read more of the Bible here: www.biblegateway.com

St Jude’s Anglican Church affirms the fundamental truths of Christianity including:
- The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
- The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgment.
- The divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- The universal sinfulness and guilt of all people since the fall, rendering them subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
- Redemption from the guilt, penalty, dominion and pollution of sin, solely through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
- The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and his ascension to the right hand of God the Father.
- The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration.
- The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone.
- The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
- The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
